How will I Deal with..."The Itch?"
I have figured it out. I might have mentioned that I would deal with the itch by coming up with a 4th Ed adventure right? Well thats one thing I intend to do.

But something else has popped into my head. A way for me to get back into writing, creating, everything.

I am gonna build a world.

Thats right, I am gonna build a campaign setting. Cities, Towns, the WORLD. System, classes allowed, special rules, the lot.

I already have a basic outline of the world. If you have ever played Septerra Core then the basic idea behind the style of the world will be apparent.

The world is shattered. What is left are huge floating landmasses, arranged in a layer formation. They orbit around a core, which is shrouded in a dark cloud. No one knows what lies in the Core as well, or how the world came to be the way it is.

Very interesting Idea, and I really liked that aspect of Septerra Core...but the gameplay in that game sucked ass :P

So, I grabbed the idea (which, this idea for a world also exists in the anime Last Exile, and the tv show Skyland) for a DND Campaign World.

Couple of notes to myself.

Classes - No Wizard, No Sorcerer. Psion/Psionic Warrior/Soulknife replace them as standard classes. Reason behind this is Arcane Magic is no longer practiced.

Clerics/Rangers/Paladins/Druids/Bards use a power point system. Arcane Spell Failure goes OUT the window! Beyond that, Standard Classes. EXCEPTION! Monks very rare, come from a specific "plate" (continent)

Races (Playable) - Standard Races, except no gnomes, add Orcs, Goblins, and Kobolds. Orcs and Goblins are tolerated, but generally are thought of as subhuman. Kobolds are generally laughed at.

12 Months, 30 days a month. 9 Gods, one for each Alignment.

World Makeup - 4 Layers.

Top Layer - Most Habitable. Made up of 10 "plates" or floating islands. 5 Major Kingdoms.

First Kingdom - Eril. Covers the 2 Largest Plates, and the one smaller island plate that sits between the two. Is ruled by a king who must also be a Psionic. Considered one of the more advanced countries. The smaller plate is home to the great "Markteus Academy". This academy is where the wealthy and nobility send their children to train in combat, arts, history, and, if gifted, psionics. Eril is very cosmopolitan, and at any time, any of the various races can be found here.

Second Kingdom - Latveu. Covers 2 Plates that sit side by side. Ruled by a hereditary Queen. Generally considered the foremost in arts and entertainment. Home of the legendary "Bevuel Theatre". Also, the majory of the upper levels water supply comes from the huge lake that sits on the main Plate, which is fed by spring that opens up into the Elemental Plane of Water. Consequently, Latveu has the only Navy in the known world. Mostly humans, half elves, halflings are found here.

Third Kingdom - Mag-Tho. Covers 2 of the smaller plates, and floats behind Latveu. Home of the Orcs, Goblins, Kobolds, and Elves No central government is knowns, simply more of a collection of tribes.
One plate houses the Orcs and Goblins. The second houses the Elves and Kobolds. The elves live in the forest of Miru.

Fourth Kingdom - Wan Yao. Covers 2 plates, and sits between the Fifth Kingdom and the First Kingdom. Home of the only school for martial arts in the world. This country is also strictly neutral, and refuses to participate in any of the wars of the other 4 nations. In fact, the rule of this country, the God-King Jun-Wi, is a master of diplomacy and is generally called upon to mediate disputes between the other Kingdoms. This plate also houses the once a year Gathering, where the rulers of the 5 Kingdoms meet to discuss situations and reaffirm peace treaties. Primarly Humans, with a small amount of Half Elves, Elves, and halflings.

Fifth Kingdom - Duro-Togh. Home of the Dwarves. This plate is covered in Mountains. The Dwarves are the first to discovered how to harvest energy from the Energy Storms that occur on the lower levels. They are ruled by the Thane, a very old Dwarf, rumored to have lived before the time of the Sundering. They are home to the Tinkers Guild, who deals with most of the technology availble to the other races.

Second Layer - Less Hospitable. Generally only people who wish to live outside the law live down on this level. Energy Storms are not uncommon. 8 Plates, 3 of which contain stations which harvest Energy for the Upper Plates to use. Home of the "Undertakers", this worlds Mafia.

Third Layer - Dangerous. Undead and other bizarre mutations exist on this level. Large amount of ruins, strewn over 6 plates. This level rotates in the opposite direction compared to the other three plates, for reasons unknown. Adventurers frequently explore this level. Energy Storms more Frequent.

Fourth Layer - Nearly Impossibly to Survive. 4 Plates drift on this level, slower then any other rotation. Not much is known regarding this level, other then it sits right on top of the Black. Nearly Constant Energy Storms. Very few have entered and left again.

The Core - Below all the layers sits...the Core. No one knows what the Core is...
